Who We Are + what we do
Our purpose is to provide and produce for our community.
We raise lambs + steers for butcher, goats for milk + companionship, chickens for eggs + butcher, and plant, gather and sell produce from our garden. We strive to provide the best quality in our products, as well as with services.
Our story begins with the founding of the family ranch many, many years ago. Bill Lewis (original owner of the ranch) sold the ranch to Robert Witherspoon (his grandson) in 2020, to keep the legacy in the family. Robert had dreamed of purchasing the ranch since he was a child, and when his time with the Marine Corps came to an end in the summer of 2020, he moved his family of 4 from California to the small town of Newell, South Dakota to pursue the life of a rancher. Shortly after moving, they found out they were expecting their 3rd child, making them a family of 7 (including the grandparents).
Since purchasing the ranch, two new buildings have been built, lots of organizing has been completed and major updates to the barn, fencing + yard have been done. The goal for 2023 is to finish building the new family home, located just across from the old barn.
Livestock
Our animals are our livelihood. From food to companionship and everything in between, our livestock depend on us just as much as we depend on them. Our cattle are raised for beef. Our sheep serve two purposes here on our ranch- wool and meat. Our goats also serve a dual purpose - companionship and milk. Our chickens are mainly raised for their egg production, however, they produce meat for our family, as well.
